We are, as we speak, checking out North Lees campsite. So far so good, very tranquil (except for our son who's shouting the place down and unfortunately cannot be switched off). About to embark on the walk to Stanage but most definitely taking in a beer or two in Hathersage. It's baking hot though, if not a little cloudy every so often. Hope we've pitched in an acceptable place, buggared if we're taking our humungasaur (ref Ben 10) tent down in the absence of a warden to tell us otherwise. Will update later...
August is ok, 1st and 2nd weekends left for us now though, we are going to Lakes with @3000milekayak on 20/21 Aug (others welcome of course!).
It's just started raining now, but great campsite. It's fully booked apparently, we're in the top field and there's only 5 tents. Dead quiet too, but maybe that's not such a great thing for the RCUK meetup! The walk to Stanage Plantation is really lovely too, prehistoric almost, massive head height ferns against the background of Stanage grit and the Peak. Can see how Charlotte Bronte was moved to write. Anyway enough of my beer fuelled wittering...
